"What will a pop-up cost us in Dubai?" — the question we get most, and the one with the fewest straight answers. That's because the cost splits across four lines that move independently: space, fabrication, permits and operations.
The four lines
Space is the biggest and most variable line — a spot in a prime mall can cost multiples of an emerging-neighbourhood unit, and the footfall difference doesn't always match the price difference. Fabrication comes second, and holds the most room for smart savings: modular, reusable design cuts the cost of every later activation.
Permits are a relatively small line but the most painful to neglect — a late permit means paid days with no opening. And operations — staffing, storage, logistics — is the line first budgets always forget.
Where to save without it showing
Save on the invisible structure: framing, back-of-house lighting, reused elements. Never save on the first touchpoint — the façade and what a visitor sees in the first three seconds.
